Dr. Tarini Mehta is a Professor, Advocate, and ESG consultant with global expertise in environmental, international, and contract laws. She is also an AA1000 Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner (ACSAP). She has held senior academic roles at O.P. Jindal Global University, as well as advised and worked with institutions such as the UK Focal Point for the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, Normandy Chair for Peace, and the International Bar Association.

Education
She holds a Doctorate in International Environmental Law from Pace University (US), an LLM from the University of Cambridge (UK), LLB from the University of Warwick (UK), and a BA in Philosophy (Hons.) from the University of Delhi. Her specialized certification in Sustainability and Climate Risk from the Global Association of Risk Professionals, as well as on Sustainable Finance from Deloitte Singapore, and ESG Risks and Opportunities from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, further reinforce her leadership in sustainability and compliance initiatives.
EXPERIENCE
With a strong background in policy and legislative work, Dr. Mehta has advised on issues ranging from environmental protection and ESG implementation to social welfare, and has held research affiliations with institutions such as the UK Focal Point for the EU Fundamental Rights Agency, Normandy Chair for Peace, Global Centre for Environmental Legal Studies, Pace University, and the University of Warwick Centre for Rights, Equality and Diversity. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Global ESG Leadership Organisation, London, and is a regular speaker at international conferences and academic forums.

    • M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (1985) – Oleum Gas Leak Case: This landmark case led the Supreme Court to establish strict guidelines on the safety of hazardous industries, compelling the closure of unsafe factories and setting up environmental safety measures.
    • M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (1996) – Ganga Pollution Case: Advocate Mehta’s petition resulted in stringent regulations to control industrial effluents, particularly tannery waste, from polluting the Ganga River.
    • M.C. Mehta v. State of Tamil Nadu (1997) – Tannery Pollution Case: This case led to the closure of several polluting tanneries and set the stage for policies around better effluent management in India.
    • M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (1996) – Taj Mahal Preservation Case: Advocate Mehta’s petition to prevent industrial pollution around the Taj Mahal resulted in significant pollution control orders to protect the monument.
    • M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (1984) – Lead-Free Gasoline Case: This case led to a groundbreaking shift, mandating the use of lead-free gasoline in India, marking a critical step towards reducing air pollution
    • Indian Council for Enviro-Legal Action v. Union of India (1989) – Groundwater Pollution Case: The Court ordered closure and clean-up of chemical industries polluting groundwater in Bichhri village, reinforcing strict liability for hazardous waste disposal.
    • Vellore Citizens’ Welfare Forum v. Union of India (1996) – Tamil Nadu Tanneries Case: This case invoked the Precautionary and Polluter Pays Principles, mandating compensation and better regulation of tanneries causing water pollution in Tamil Nadu.
    • S. Jagannathan v. Union of India (1997) – Prawn Farming Regulation Case: The Court imposed restrictions on commercial aquaculture in coastal areas to prevent ecological damage, particularly from unregulated shrimp farming.
    • M.C. Mehta v. Union of India (1992) – Environmental Education Case: The Supreme Court directed inclusion of environmental education as a compulsory subject in schools to promote awareness and sustainable practices.

Advocate Gupta holds a master’s degree in physics (Electronics and Communication) and a Law degree, with a specialisation in Intellectual Property Rights. He has also been certified by WIPO DL101. Known for his strategic thinking, technical understanding, and excellence in intellectual property law, he has over 27 years of experience, including in representing Intellectual Property cases in the High Court, District Court and Intellectual Property Appellate Board, leading IP Operations for a US-based company, and offering legal research, writing, and patent services. He has also received Post Graduate Diplomas in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR), Computer Science and Applications (PGDSA), and Human Rights (PGDHR).

Her expertise, dedication, and unwavering commitment have shaped her proficiency in IP drafting, filing and prosecution, legal training, advisory, litigation, and enforcement. She has been honoured with the “Thomson Award” for her academic, cultural, and extracurricular achievements. 

Divita Vashisht

Associate, ESG and Environmental Law
Divita Vashisht holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Jindal Global Law School and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Delhi. She has litigation experience in environmental law, property law and consumer and medical negligence matters, having handled matters before the National Green Tribunal, High Court of Delhi, and district courts across Delhi NCR. Her areas of expertise include Environmental Law, ESG Compliance and Civil/Commercial Disputes. Her experience has equipped her to address diverse strata of legal challenges under these domains.

Fareed Yaseen

Fareed currently serves as the Organizational Development Manager at Tarini Mehta & Partners, where he leads strategic initiatives across business development, ESG integration, and stakeholder engagement.

He is also a Founding Partner at Imdaad.Aid, a non-profit initiative that drives community-based fundraising and resource mobilization for under-served populations.

Previously, Fareed has led large-scale international conferences, managing end-to-end event strategy, partnerships, sponsorships, and execution. His experience in high-stakes, cross-functional project management further strengthens his ability to deliver both impact and scale.
